No Fault Found: Andrew Tate’s Vanuatu Passport Safe

A government review in Vanuatu has found no fault with Andrew Tate’s citizenship documents, ensuring his passport remains safe. This conclusive finding means that despite the controversies surrounding the influencer, his status as a Vanuatu citizen will not be immediately affected. The review’s scope was limited to the original application process.
According to government spokesperson Kiery Manassah, the citizenship office meticulously examined Tate’s file and determined that he had successfully passed all required background checks, including those from Interpol and the UK, at the time his citizenship was granted. This procedural compliance is the basis for the current decision.
Manassah acknowledged that if the government had been fully aware of the serious allegations against Tate when he applied, the outcome would have been different. He admitted, “If the government had been aware of this at the start… we should have not allowed him in the first place.” However, he stressed the legal constraints preventing retrospective revocation based on newly discovered information.
In light of this incident and similar past cases, Vanuatu’s government is taking steps to strengthen its “golden passport” program. New regulations are being introduced to enhance due diligence, with the aim of improving the program’s reputation and ensuring that future applicants undergo more stringent vetting processes.
