Spider-Man Brand New Day’s Trailer Is Now the Most Watched Film Promotion in History at 1 Billion Views

Sony and Marvel have collectively produced the most-watched film trailer in history with Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The promotional clip, released on March 17, crossed one billion views in just four days, as confirmed by WaveMetrix’s tracking data. By Tuesday, the total stood at 1.1 billion — a figure never before reached by any movie trailer.

The first-day performance of 718.6 million views was already in uncharted territory. This dwarfed the record of 365 million set by Deadpool & Wolverine’s Super Bowl teaser in February 2024, as well as Spider-Man: No Way Home’s 355.5 million. Grand Theft Auto VI’s entertainment industry record of 475 million first-day views was also broken with ease.

The cumulative total of 1.1 billion views within four days is a historic first for film trailers. No promotional video from any studio, franchise, or media category had ever achieved this before Brand New Day. The record stands as both a marketing triumph and a cultural phenomenon.

Brand New Day opens July 31, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and featuring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Tramell Tillman, and Michael Mando. The film is the fourth MCU Spider-Man installment and a key entry in Phase Six. Indian fans will enjoy it in six languages across premium theatres nationwide.

The trailer’s deeply emotional narrative — Peter Parker living anonymously, forgotten by friends and enemies alike, but still finding the strength to protect New York — resonated powerfully. Fans responded with viral social media posts, heartfelt reactions, and alternate film titles. Brand New Day has defined itself as one of the most significant cinematic events in recent memory, and the film hasn’t even debuted yet.
