Iranian state media has suggested the ceasefire was “imposed on the enemy” after “four waves of attacks on Israeli-occupied territories,” even as both Israel and Iran continue to exchange fire despite the declared truce. This narrative highlights a different interpretation of the peace efforts.
While Iranian media frames the ceasefire as a result of their military pressure, Israel’s Defense Minister has ordered “forceful strikes” on Tehran, citing an Iranian missile launch after the truce. This stark contrast in narratives complicates the path to de-escalation.
The US President had announced the ceasefire on social media, urging both parties to adhere to it. Both Israel and Iran had publicly accepted the truce, but the continued exchange of fire and conflicting interpretations demonstrate the deep-seated distrust.
Prior to the ceasefire, Israel had launched intense airstrikes on Tehran, while Iran had fired 20 missiles, causing casualties in Beersheba. The ongoing hostilities, despite the diplomatic pronouncements, point to a deeply entrenched conflict.
