Singapore and UAE Pursue Enhanced Business and Investment Partnerships

Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has emphasized the potential for enhanced business and investment collaboration between Singapore and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). During a visit to Abu Dhabi on October 20, Wong underscored opportunities for businesses and investors from both nations to deepen their cooperation, building on existing government partnerships.

In meetings with UAE business leaders and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Wong pointed out sectors ripe for collaboration, particularly in energy, artificial intelligence, and defense technology. The UAE’s expertise in oil, gas, renewable energy, and nuclear power, coupled with its growing investments in cutting-edge technologies, presents a strategic opportunity for Singapore to engage in these emerging industries.

The discussions highlighted a shared interest in expanding commercial links, with both countries already enjoying substantial economic ties. In 2025, bilateral trade in goods reached $27.9 billion, while trade in services amounted to $12.8 billion in 2024. This makes the UAE Singapore’s largest trading partner in the Middle East.

Singapore and the UAE have continued to foster economic cooperation through various bilateral business forums and investment initiatives. These recent talks reflect a mutual commitment to identifying new opportunities that align with the evolving global economic landscape.
