Spider-Man: Brand New Day has achieved one of the most remarkable opening weekends in cinema history, amassing an estimated $927 million globally in just four days. The Marvel film, featuring Tom Holland, now ranks as the second-largest global opening ever, surpassed only by Avengers: Endgame’s $1.2 billion debut in 2019.
In the North American market, the film earned $355 million over its opening weekend, narrowly missing the domestic record of $357.1 million held by Avengers: Endgame. Internationally, the movie brought in $572 million across 66 markets. China led the overseas box office with $121 million, followed by the United Kingdom with $49 million, Mexico at $38.3 million, and South Korea with $25 million.
The superhero blockbuster also shattered opening weekend records in several countries. In India, it recorded the largest-ever Hollywood opening with $31.8 million. Meanwhile, France added $26.6 million to the total, Brazil contributed $23.8 million, and Spain brought in $15.6 million.
This latest installment of Spider-Man has outperformed the opening figures of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which took in $600 million worldwide, and Avengers: Infinity War, which opened with $640 million globally. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day takes place four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The plot follows Peter Parker as he navigates life after the world forgets who he is, while facing a new mysterious threat with the help of some unexpected allies.
Starring alongside Tom Holland are Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo, contributing to a star-studded cast that has captivated audiences worldwide with this latest chapter in the Spider-Man saga.
