Sharpa Collaborates with Nvidia, Unitree to Innovate Humanoid Robotics Technology

In a significant development in the field of robotics, Singapore-based company Sharpa has teamed up with Nvidia and Chinese robot manufacturer Unitree to create an innovative humanoid robot platform. Announced by Nvidia’s Jensen Huang at the Computex technology conference in Taipei, the partnership aims to deliver advanced humanoid robots for research and training by late 2026. These robots are expected to enhance research in artificial intelligence, focusing on complex manual tasks requiring precision and delicacy.

The core of this ambitious project is the Nvidia Isaac GR00T H2 Plus humanoid robot, which integrates the unique strengths of Sharpa, Unitree, and Nvidia. Sharpa contributes its highly dexterous robotic hands, designed with 22 degrees of freedom to mimic human dexterity and tactile sensitivity. This feature is crucial for tasks involving fine motor skills. Unitree supplies the H2 humanoid robot body, while Nvidia provides its cutting-edge AI computing technology. Together, these components form a sophisticated system capable of handling tasks like precision manufacturing, healthcare assistance, food preparation, and cleaning.

Beyond hardware, the platform equips researchers with Nvidia’s AI models, simulation tools, and a comprehensive software development ecosystem. This access allows for more efficient training and testing of robotic systems, potentially accelerating advancements in AI-driven robotics. The collaboration is seen as a pivotal move towards making sophisticated robotics research more accessible to educational and research institutions worldwide. Prestigious universities and research organizations in the United States and Europe are among the early adopters of this technology.

This initiative underscores a growing trend in “physical AI,” where artificial intelligence systems are developed to operate in physical environments. As AI technology evolves, humanoid robots are increasingly viewed as viable solutions for industries that demand both labor-intensive and precision-based operations. The collaboration between Sharpa, Nvidia, and Unitree highlights the intensifying global efforts to create humanoid robots capable of functioning alongside humans in everyday settings.

The announcement reflects a surge in investments directed at expanding the capabilities of humanoid robots. By combining the expertise of these leading companies, the project not only accelerates the development of practical humanoid robots but also fosters a new era of AI applications poised to transform various sectors of the economy.
