Philippines Uses E-Visa Tech to Extend Taiwanese Travelers’ 14-Day Entry

The Philippines has announced the extension of its visa-free entry policy for Taiwanese passport holders, a move aimed at boosting tourism and enhancing bilateral exchanges. The policy, now set to remain in place until June 30 of next year, allows Taiwanese visitors to enter the country without a visa for stays of up to 14 days. For those planning longer visits, a visa application is still required prior to arrival.

This decision aligns with the Philippines’ approach to maintaining reciprocal visa arrangements, as Taiwan similarly offers visa-free entry to Filipino passport holders. By extending this privilege, the Philippines hopes to attract more tourists from Taiwan, thereby strengthening the ties between the two regions.

In addition to the visa-free entry extension, the Philippines is actively working to lure more Taiwanese travelers by enhancing flight connectivity and promoting travel beyond the typical destinations like Palawan. The tourism department is keen on showcasing lesser-known regions and diverse experiences across the archipelago, aiming to broaden the appeal to international visitors.

Tourism statistics highlight Taiwan’s significance as a key market for the Philippines, with nearly 94,000 Taiwanese tourists visiting in the first five months of this year. This figure marks an increase from the same period last year, underscoring Taiwan’s position as one of the top sources of international visitors to the Philippines.
